This week, in my November “Getting What You Want” series, I’ll be talking about Focus.
First a recap.
Goals are intentions with an end result. There may be many things you want to do, experience and get done, however, they are merely thoughts until you make a commitment to them.
Commitment takes goals to the next level by adding dedication to the process of getting your end result. Part of that commitment is knowing “why” you want what you want and then making a detailed plan to get it.
The next step is Focus.
Focus is the narrowing down of your choices and having a clear vision.
Focus includes choosing one goal and making time for it by asking yourself some questions. Goals and dreams often go by the wayside because we don’t narrow our choices and instead try to multitask. We end up with many things started, but most left undone. Being clear and making time to take the steps to achieve your goals are crucial!
So here are some questions that you need to answer:
*What goal is most important to you? PICK ONE that you will start with.
*How high is your commitment level to this goal?
*Is the goal in line with your values?
*Why do you want to commit to this goal? (you’ll have to keep this written somewhere for when it starts to get difficult)
*How willing are you to make the time to achieve this goal?
Your homework for the next week is to reflect on and honestly answer these questions for yourself. If the answer to any of the questions stirs up confusion, dread or you immediately get tired then you need to rethink your goal and why you want it! Your body response is a great indicator of what the next right step is so pay attention to it.
Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving!
